Although Von Miller’s official return date from his ACL tear he suffered last year on Thanksgiving remains undetermined, he assured he will back before the midway point of the season. This week at OTA’s when asked if he would definitely be back by week 6 Miller said “I guarantee it won’t be any later than that.”
Despite the inspiring optimism it is unlikely we see Von that early. ACL injuries typically take a year to recover from and another year before you start performing like your former self. The Bills regime under Head Coach Sean McDermott have been notorious for not rushing players back from injury and taking as much time as possible. The optimism for Von Miller lies in he has comeback quickly from this injury before. Late in the 2013 season Von Miller tore his ACL in his other knee and returned back in time for the start of the 2014 season and recorded 14 sacks on the year and earning himself an all pro nod.
Von mentioned how he was in a “great spot” and has been running, strengthening his leg, and even work on the defensive line
Miller also mentioned his pleasure with the signing of former Denver defensive end and teammate Shane Ray. Miller noting “That is my guy.” “Truly my brother.”
The Bills kickoff their season in 4 months on September 11th at Met life Stadium, taking on the New York Jets.
