Game 1 of the preseason is in the books as the Bills beat the colts 23-19. The game featured many promising offensive signs while defense still maintaining the main spotlight. This Saturday the Bills will take on the Pittsburgh Steelers at 6:30pm. Here are some things to watch for Saturday.
Cornerback room
The cornerback room is star studded for both the Steelers and the Bills and should provide the wide receivers with a good challenge Saturday night. Starting with the Bills is a hotly contested battle for the cornerback #2 spot. Dane Jackson proved his case seconds into the game picking of Richardson’s first pass attempt in the NFL and returning it deep into the redzone. Dane Jackson and Christian Benford made cases for themselves as well stifling opposing receivers and asides from a pass interference from Elam, gave up very few yards in the air
From the Steelers the widely hearld corner Joey Porter Jr. will play in his first NFL game Saturday. Likely getting a chance to play against the Bills starters he will be matched up against one of the NFL’s best in Stefon Diggs which will be can’t miss TV
A Josh sighting
Although most of the starters played last game Stefon Diggs and Josh Allen were healthy scratches. Expect that to not be the case this time around however as I believe they will play at least one drive Saturday night just like they did last year for the 2nd preseason game.
Andy Isabella
The battle for the starting slot receiver spot is all but locked up, or so we thought. Andy Isabella has made some noise Saturday night having a solid outing catching 3 balls for 42 yards and showing remarkable run after the catch ability; he also showed some nifty return skills making him a versatile player. This week at practice there have been clips of him getting work in with the starters. Watch to see his snap count Saturday with the starters.
Defensive Line
The defensive line tho dominate had some struggles against the run Saturday. Facing a team Saturday with an electric playmaking running back and an improving offensive line this will be a good test in whether the Bills front can dominant a line there expected to dominate.
