The Indiana Fever faced off against Connecticut but came up short on their third match up against the Sun.
Indiana started off hot by winning the tip, and then also scoring the first basket of the contest with some Caitlin Clark to Kristy Wallace action.
Clark then went on to score her own basket with just under nine minutes left in the first quarter.
Connecticut’s DeWanna Bonner had an answer as she scored the first eight for the Sun, putting them in front by one.
The teams exchanged baskets, Caitlin Clark stepping into a three-point shot and Alyssa Smith collecting a basket off a spin move underneath, making the score 15-12 in favor of Connecticut.
Connecticut slowly started to pull away, ending the first quarter up by 11.
To end the second quarter, DiJonai Carrington steals the ball from Clark and lays it up at the buzzer, putting the Sun up 55-35.
Despite the first bucket of the second half, the Fever quickly commit their 7th turnover of the contest with 9 minutes remaining in the third.
Strong defense and relentless offense propel the Connecticut Sun to the finish line, with a final score of 89-72.
Connecticut’s DiJonai Carrington led all scorers with 22 points, followed by DeWanna Bonner with 17, Brionna Jones and Tyasha Harris with 11.
Top performers for the Indiana Fever were Aliyah Boston with a double-double (14 pts, 12 reb) and Caitlin Clark and Lexie Hull both pitching in ten of their own.
Connecticut will take the floor again on Wednesday, June 12th against the Chicago Sky and Indiana will face off against the Atlanta Dream on Thursday the 13th at 7pm EST.
