The political world is in an uproar following the first presidential debate between Vice President Kamala Harris and Former President Donald Trump. Kamala Harris earned the deeply influential endorsement of pop-star Taylor Swift and Donald Trump had something to say about it on Fox Wednesday morning.
Following the conclusion of the debate Tuesday night, Taylor Swift took to Instagram to finally share who she intends to vote for come November.
“Like many of you, I watched the debate tonight. If you haven’t already, now is a great time to do your research on the issues at hand and the stances these candidates take on the topics that matter to you the most. As a voter, I make sure to watch and read everything I can about their proposed policies and plans for this country.”
The Instagram post is currently at 9.3 million likes as well as 1.4 million shares.
“Recently I was made aware that AI of ‘me’ falsely endorsing Donald Trump’s presidential run was posted to his site. It really conjured up my fears around AI, and the dangers of spreading misinformation. It brought me to the conclusion that I need to be very transparent about my actual plans for this election as a voter. The simplest way to combat misinformation is with the truth.”
Swift is of course referring to the pictures of her, some of which were AI-generated, that were posted to Trump’s truth social account with the caption “I accept!”, potentially misleading voters to believe their favorite pop-star was a Trump supporter.
“I will be casting my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 Presidential Election…” Swift wrote on Tuesday Night. She continued by referencing Tim Walz’ stances on abortion, IVF, and LGBTQ+ rights and Harris’ fight for the “rights and causes” that Taylor believes “need a warrior to champion them” as reason for her endorsement.
Swift concluded by urging others to do adequate research and to make a decision for themselves this election season before signing off; “With love and hope, Taylor Swift Childless Cat Lady” An obvious dig at Trump’s running mate J.D. Vance who used the same term to shame women who vote Democrat.
Donald Trump spent Wednesday morning addressing several points on “Fox and Friends” including him failing to earn a Swift endorsement.
“I actually like Mrs. Mahomes much better if you ant o know the truth…” Saying that the wife of NFL superstar Patrick Mahomes is a “big Trump fan” and a “big MAGA fan” and that he thinks she is “great”
Trump made it clear that he “was not a Taylor Swift fan” and that Swift is a “very liberal person”
An extremely nonchalant response from the candidate who seemingly wanted Swift’s endorsement so badly that he conjured it up himself.
The reactions from around the world continue to pour in especially as the Harris campaign has requested a second debate to take place in October while the Trump campaign seems uninterested after claiming the debate was rigged in Harris’ favor.
