In yesterday’s All-Star vs. Team USA showdown, Arike Ogunbowale was our 2024 AT&T WNBA All-Star Game MVP with a record-breaking 34-point performance to take the victory over Team USA 117-109.

Our 1st time All-Star rookie duo of Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark also had record-breaking contributions.

Reese, our offensive boards and double-double setting queen did it again – after already breaking the WNBA’s record for consecutive double-doubles this season, she has set another record as the first ever rookie to record a double-double in an All-Star game with 12 total points and 11 rebounds.

Clark has been another rookie turning heads this season, setting the rookie assist record in an All-Star game with 10 total, coming just short of the legendary Sue Bird’s WNBA All-Star game assists record.

The game tipped off at around 8:30pm EST, Diana Taurasi scoring the first three points of the game for Team USA, with Chelsea Gray adding three more points of her own.

Finally our All-Stars answered with a basket from Nneka Ogwumike.

Angel Reese got her first minutes in the All-Star game towards the end of the first quarter, really making her presence known in the paint. Reese scored her first basket off an offensive board and put the All-Star team up by one to end the first quarter.

The All-Stars then made the first points of the 2nd quarter, a beautiful Caitlin Clark to Jonquel Jones dime gave the All-Star team a five-point advantage of 28-23 over USA.

The two teams continued to battle throughout the first half, Reese recording eight rebounds already less than halfway through the 2nd quarter.

At the half, Brionna Jones beat the buzzer to give Team USA a two-point advantage with a score of 54-52.

Breanna Stewart was leading all scorers at the half with 14 points, she ended the contest with a double-double (31 points, 10 rebounds).

Our MVP Arike Ogunbowale (34 points, 6 assists) pushed the All-Star team to victory, with a final score of 117-109.

Top scorers for the WNBA All-Stars were Allisha Gray (16 points, 5 steals), Nneka Ogumwike (14 points), Kelsey Mitchell (13 points) and Angel Reese (12 points, 11 rebounds).

Top scorers for Team USA were Breanna Stewart (31 points, 10 rebounds), A’ja Wilson (22 points, 6 rebounds) and Diana Taurasi (14 points).

The WNBA season will have a small hiatus for the Paris Olympics and will resume action on August 15th.
