The Buffalo Bills heads back on the road to Indianapolis to take on the struggling Colts. Here are the three keys to victory for the Bills win over the Colts in Lucas Oil Stadium to go 8-2 for the first time since 1993.
Contain Jonathan Taylor
Last time these two teams face off against each other was back in 2021 where the Colts came to Orchard Park and stampede the Bills right out of the gate with a whooping score of 38-15. Reason why Indy won that game was the curiosity of their superstar running back Jonathan Taylor having 185 rushing yards, 32 carries, and five touchdowns completely embarrassing Buffalo’s defense during that game. Now fasting forward three years later, the Bills are looking for some payback against the Colts especially towards Jonathan Taylor. Buffalo needs to contain Taylor and not let him have his way against them again. Last week against the Dolphins, they can’t contain either De’Von Achane and Raheem Mostert as Miami’s running back duo ran the ball efficiently down Buffalo’s throat all day long in Orchard Park. The Bills run defense needs to step up in a big way going up against a team who runs more efficiently than Miami especially having a caliber running back player like Jonathan Taylor in the backfield.
Exploit Indy’s secondary with the passing game
The Colts secondary has been struggling all year long. Indy’s defense is allowing the fourth most passing yards at home giving 241.8 yards and 1.5 passing touchdowns per game. The Colts cornerback trio of Kenny Moore II, Samuel Womack III, and Jaylon Jones are allowing passer rating of 117.0, 130.6, and 84.3 combined in a total of 331.9. The trio only has a total of two interceptions, which both belonging to Jones on the season. Except the Bills passing offense having their way with this struggling Colts secondary all day long in Lucas Oil Stadium with likes of Khalil Shakir, Dalton Kincaid, James Cook, Ray Davis, and Amari Cooper (if he plays) lethal of pass catchers for Buffalo’s offense.
Don’t turnover the ball and give the Colts any source of hope
Even though the Bills has been not turning the ball as much as in previous seasons this year having the fewest turnovers in the league with only four tied second of the fewest giveaways in the league. However they can’t let by any means let the roller coasting Colts gain any confidence of turning the ball in this game because it has written trap game all over it. We saw how tight last week’s game was against the Miami Dolphins coming down to the wire, where Buffalo escaped with the win from a 61 yard field goal game winner from kicker Tyler Bass with five seconds left of the game. In the Bills defense though the Dolphins were a desperate team fighting to keep their season alive and division games are always tough regardless of the win-loss record. So the Bills needs to not be in another tight game again like last week and completely dominant the Colts in Lucas Oil Stadium from start to finish and not having any slip ups during the game. And then turn their attention for next week against the team that has won back to back Super Bowls and has ended Buffalo’s season in three of the last four years the Kansas City Chiefs.
