Golden State was able to sign Otto Porter Jr. and Nemanja Bjelica to veteran’s minimum contracts, and Andre Iguodala also has agreed to return to the Warriors.
But the Warriors also targeted a number of players they weren’t able to lure to the Bay, and Bleacher Report’s Jake Fischer reports Golden State was one of the teams interested in DeMar DeRozan. Per Fischer, the Warriors, Philadelphia 76ers, Portland Trail Blazers, Phoenix Suns, New York Knicks and Boston Celtics all had interest in signing DeRozan.
According to Fisher, it initially was believed that DeRozan might accept the $5.9 taxpayer midlevel exception to play for a team with title hopes. But DeRozan reportedly never truly considered that route, and eventually signed a three-year, $85 million contract with the Chicago Bulls was which was finalized via a sign-and-trade with the San Antonio Spurs.
