The Buffalo Bills take on their AFC East rival the Miami Dolphins at home on Sunday. Miami is looking to save their season while Buffalo is looking on to secure another division title very early in the season. Today we preview this matchup between these division foes heading into Sunday.
Josh Allen’s historic dominance over the Dolphins
Remember when Tom Brady always had the Bills number and owned the franchise for 20 years well that’s what Josh Allen and the Miami Dolphins are beginning to look like. Since his rookie season, Bills quarterback Josh Allen has completely dominated the Miami Dolphins every time he sees them. Allen has historic all-time record against Miami 12-2 including the playoffs. He’s a Charles Clay dropped touchdown pass and Isiah McKenzie going out of bounds being undefeated against the Dolphins with a 14-0 record instead of a 12-2 record all-time. Allen’s stats against the Dolphins is pure ownership against one opponent, he has 37 total touchdowns and 9 interceptions with 3,854 passing yards of a passer rating of 108.6 in his career against Miami. Allen has never lost a home game to the Dolphins in his career along with head coach Sean McDermott during his eight year tenure with the organization. So, just like Brady was to Buffalo for two decades and owned them it’s safe to say that Allen completely owns the Miami Dolphins franchise and I don’t see it changing anytime soon.
The fate of Miami’s season relies on the hands of Tua Tagovailoa
After a month of being out of action with another concussion injury, Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa made his return onto the field last Sunday at home against the Arizona Cardinals. He had a solid game but just came up short in the end losing to Arizona on a game winning field goal 28-27. Miami is 2-5 with the fate of their season being on the line especially against a team they can’t beat let alone the quarterback on that team as well. So the Dolphins season relies on the shoulders of their franchise quarterback to find a way to turn their season around and going on the road to a stadium they haven’t won since the Chicago Cubs won their first World Series in a quarter of a century and pull off the upset in Orchard Park. Tua’s track record against the Bills is lopsided with a 1-7 all-time record and having 7 total touchdowns and 10 interceptions with 1,599 passing yards of a passer rating of 74.1 in his career against Buffalo since his rookie season. Tagovailoa definitely needs to go out there exorcise his demons against Buffalo and have a great game to save Miami’s season, if he has another horrific performance against Buffalo and Miami falls to 2-6 well it you must as well pack it up and get ready for the 2025 NFL season.
Von Miller’s return
After a four game suspension from the league’s commissioner, Von Miller makes his impactful return to boost up the Bills pass rush even more lethal. Miller’s presence brings a whole another level to this Buffalo pass rush. Before the suspension Miller was having a great start to his fourteen season in his career having 13 pressures and three total sacks. He was beginning to look like his old self again and after the Bills first loss of the season coming by the hands of the Baltimore Ravens, the hammer came down on Miller from NFL commissioner Roger Goodell giving him a four game suspension due to domestic assault allegations charge from a year ago. But despite all the off the field issues, the former Super Bowl MVP is back in the fold with this Bills defense that has been dominated on the defensive line in their last couple of games. With the surging Gregory Rousseau having 15 pressures, seven quarterback hits, and two pass deflections over the past two games. Bills fans will have a treat to watch Miller, Rousseau, Oliver, Epenesa, and the rest of the Bills pass rush feast on a Dolphins offensive line that has allowed 19 sacks throughout the season which they ranked in the top 15 of the league on Sunday at home in Miller’s return back to action on the field.
