Last Sunday night against his childhood team the San Francisco 49ers, Josh Allen broke another record as he surpassed Bills Hall of Fame quarterback Jim Kelly for the most all-time touchdowns in Buffalo Bills franchise history. It only took Allen 106 games to reach this milestone than Kelly did in 160 games of his career with Buffalo. With just 42 seconds left in the second quarter before the end of the first half, Allen threw a 7 yard touchdown to wide receiver Mack Hollins which that throw gave Allen the mark for his 245th career touchdown surpassing Kelly’s 244th career touchdowns for the all-time Bills TD leader.
Josh Allen made another historic feature in Bills blowout win against the 49ers
With 5:58 left in the third quarter, Allen threw a short pass to Amari Cooper who lateral the pass back to Allen before getting tackled. Allen sprinted to his left and dove on the pylon for a touchdown. As Allen became first the quarterback in NFL history to have a passing touchdown, rushing touchdown, and receiving touchdown all in the same game. And also becomes the fourth player in NFL history to reach this feature joining players like Walter Payton, David Patten, LaDanian Tomlinson, and Christian McCaffrey.
Josh Allen’s journey to this recording breaking milestone
Josh Allen tied Kelly’s all-time touchdown in Bills franchise history weeks prior when they beat the Chiefs at home. To reach this milestone way faster in his 106th game of his career than Jim Kelly did in his 160th game is very impressive, not just as a Bills quarterback but as an NFL player. In his career so far, Allen has tailed for 186 passing touchdowns, 58 rushing touchdowns, and one receiving touchdown. These numbers show you how dominant of a quarterback that Josh Allen really is, with his versatility and ability to adapt in any game situation. And he did all of this at 28 years old before reaching 30. Allen has plenty of time to widen the gap even more, making unlikely that any other future Bills quarterback after him breaking his record anytime soon.
What’s next for Josh Allen and the Bills after the clinching AFC East for a fifth year in a row?
After clinching the AFC East once again for a fifth time in a row, the agenda on what’s next for Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills to claim the number one seed of the AFC conference and have home field advantage throughout the playoffs. It’s quite possible for the Bills to get number one seed in the AFC, especially since they did beat the Chiefs two weeks ago in Orchard Park. The Bills have a easier schedule than the Chiefs do the down stretch for the remainder of the season. Kansas City has to play the Chargers, Broncos, Steelers, Browns and Texans on their schedule, while Buffalo has to play Lions, Rams, Jets ands Patriots on their schedule. The only tough game left for the Bills will be playing against the Lions in Detroit, which the Bills could possibly win that game but it won’t be easy though. As for the Chiefs they have a gauntlet schedule coming up. So, Kansas City controls their destiny but if they did slip once or twice in their upcoming games, the Bills will have the top spot in the AFC. So we shall see what happens in the race of capturing the number one seed between Buffalo and Kansas City down the stretch in these last five games for both teams.
