Epenesa poised for a breakout yr

The Bills 2020 2nd round pick AJ Epenesa is in the final year of his contract and is ready for a breakout year. Despite the struggles his rookie year Epenesa has improved every year he has been in the league going from 1 sack in his rookie year, to 1.5 sacks his sophomore year, to skyrocketing to 6.5 sacks this pass year. AJ has proven himself to be one of the better pass rushers in the NFL, but he’s looking to take that next step.

When asked if being in a contract year brings in added pressure he admitted it did but “just being here with the guys” and being in moment has helped to ease his mind. “Obviously you want to do really well…the goal is double digit sacks this year.”

His first opportunity to get sacks will come week 1 in New Jersey as the Bills play the Jets on Monday night football. When asked about the challenge of trying to get on the NFL’s all time greats in Aaron Rodgers to the ground he mentioned his football IQ and experience but how it ultimately would be inconsequential because of the players they have getting after him.

The Bills will kick their season off in a month taking on the New York Jets on Monday night football.
