Buffalo State heads back home for their Week 7 matchup against Ithaca. The Bengals are coming into on a three game losing streak while Ithaca is coming in with a two game winning streak on the road. So can Buffalo State end their three game skid or will Ithaca extended their win streak with three heading into this matchup? Let’s talk about this matchup on Saturday at noon in Coyer Field.
Buffalo State gets demolished by Union in their last game
The Bengals got embarrassed by Union falling short 31-10 in Frank Bailey Field. Quarterback Amir Cameron was 15-of-27 throwing for 237 yards and a touchdown on the day. Wide receiver Mikai Johnson had a career day with six receptions for 146 receiving yards and a touchdown. On the defensive side of the ball, the linebacker duo of Quadir McEachin and Sincere Green had 11 total tackles combined together for Buffalo State’s defense. Union scored a touchdown on their second drive of the game and went for a two point conversion attempt afterwards which was successful. The lead was 21-3 for Union before entering the half. Most of the third quarter was quiet for both teams until Union kicked a 37 yard field goal. Then Buffalo State responded back with a 49 yard pass touchdown from Cameron to Johnson to try amount a comeback from the Bengals. However, heading into the fourth quarter Union would score another touchdown to walkaway with the victory. Union’s defense had three sacks and four interceptions completely harassing the Bengals all day long. Both teams goes on being 2-4 on the year.
Ithaca routs out Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Butterfield Stadium
Ithaca had a convince win over Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with 33-14 of the final scoreboard in Butterfield Stadium. Matthew Parker the quarterback of Ithaca threw for 282 yards of 19-of-24 with three touchdowns. Running back Jalen Leonard Osbourne rushed for 75 yards on 15 carries and threw a passing touchdown for 24 yards, while wide receiver Nicholas Lang had his best game as a receiver with 141 receiving yards and two touchdowns on seven receptions. The Bombers defense gave Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute a rough time only their offense to 14 points throughout the game. Ithaca goes on 3-3 record, while Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute goes 3-4 on the year.
A must win for Buffalo State against Ithaca at home
The last time these two meet was a year ago, when Ithaca shutout Buffalo State with a whooping score of 55-0 the first time since 2016. Now shifting gears to this year Buffalo State is for some revenge after last year against the Bombers. But this is a must win for the Bengals, not just for payback but to turn their season around. So if the Bengals drops to 2-5 after Saturday then they might to hit the panic button. This game on Saturday is important for this Buffalo State squad especially against a team who humiliated them in Butterfield Stadium. So can the Bengals end their three game losing streak and turn their season or will Ithaca extend their winning streak to three in this rematch from a year ago?
