Heading into Week 4 of Buffalo Public Schools and Charter Schools football season. We got some interesting matchups this upcoming week. Canisius High School vs St Joseph’s Collegiate Institute, Salamanca vs Fredonia, and Orchard Park vs Lockport.

Canisius High School (1-2) vs St. Joseph’s Collegiate (1-1): Saturday September 28, 2:00PM

Canisius has won 8 of 9 last matchups against St. Joseph Collegiate Institute since September of 2019. Canisius is coming off a critical loss against Cathedral Prep, who’s ranked #19 at the time while Canisius is ranked #5 with a final score being 36-24 in the loss column for Canisius. Even in the loss, Canisius looked unstoppable on the ground against Cathedral Prep finishing the game with 299 rushing yards, while their opponent only rushed for 187 yards on the ground. Meanwhile, St. Joseph Collegiate Institute had impressive win over Jamestown two weeks ago with the final score being 41-30. St. Joseph Collegiate Institute wide receiver George Kunz went completely off against Jamestown’s secondary finishing the game with 168 receiving yards and three touchdowns. The rematch is a bit tougher for Canisius since they got the losing record of 1-2 record and on the road as well. But the pressure is on St. Joseph Collegiate Institute to win this game over a team that’s been dominating them for five years now. We’ll shall if St. Joseph Collegiate Institute can finally exorcise those demons with a win over Canisius or does Canisius still have ownership over St. Joseph Collegiate Institute? We will found out after Saturday afternoon.

Salamanca (3-0) vs Fredonia (1-2): Friday September 27, 7:00 PM

The unbeaten 3-0 Salamanca takes on the 1-2 Fredonia. Fredonia has back to back losses on the year, getting blown out by Chautauqua Lake with a whooping score of 37-6 and last Friday falling to Eden losing 50-30. Meanwhile, Salamanca has been perfect throughout the season having a clear margin victory of 27-3 over Southwestern. Last year, Fredonia took a major loss to Salamanca with the score end up being 41-8. The game was out of reach by halftime when Fredonia was down 20-0. Can Fredonia upset Salamanca on their home turf get some payback from last season or does Salamanca remain unbeaten for the remainder of the season? We’ll have our answer by later tonight after the game.

Lockport (0-3) vs Orchard Park (2-1): Saturday September 28, 2:00PM

Lockport hasn’t had any success against Orchard Park as of late, but that can change on Saturday. Both teams are looking to bounce back after considerable losses. Lockport has loss their fourth straight game in a row dating to last season after being dealt with Jamestown of huge blowout loss 58-18. Orchard Park suffered their first loss of the season in embarrassing fashion to Lancaster 45-21 last Friday. Last time these two teams met was back in 2019 when Orchard Park crushed Lockport 49-14. Lockport is searching their first win of the season and finally overcoming to beat a team they haven’t beaten in a while and Orchard Park is looking to continue to still have Lockport’s number. Can’t wait to found out when these two teams bump heads yet again in Orchard Park on a Saturday afternoon.
