Bills continue to look for Size & Speed to stay a pace in AFC.
For the second year in a row the Bills bite the dust on behalf of the Kansas City Chiefs. And for the 2nd straight year the Bills defense couldn’t stop Travis Kelce and Tyreek Hill in the clutch. So what do the Bills need to get over the hump form selecting out this year draft. Free Agency starts March 14 let not forget, so this is the first of four Mock’s I will present leading up this year’s NFL Draft April 28th.
1ST ROUND PICK 25: KAIIR ELAM CB- 6’2 195 FLORIDA
Elam has the size and the length to play zone or man depending on the situation. Very physical with great ball skills, as a former Wide Receiver Elam has a big catch radius plus fluid hips to mirror wideouts . Great replacement for Levi Wallace who will test free agency for the second straight year. 40 TIME: 4.47 -4.51 OTHER OPTION: WR JAMESON WILLIAMS-ALABAMA.
2ND ROUND PICK 57: PHIDARIAN MATHIS DT- 6’4 310 ALABAMA
With Harrison Phillips set to test the free agent market, and with Star Lotulelei under contract for one more year. Bills look to add younger, and stronger pieces up front around Ed Oliver. Mathis is very versatile can play multiple techniques on the defensive line. OTHER OPTION: BRANDON SMITH LB-PENN ST.
3RD ROUND PICK 89: JALEN TOLBERT WR-6’3 195 SOUTH ALABAMA
A big deep threat that has been lacking out of Bills WR core. With Cole Beasley on the wrong side of 30, and not sure if Isaiah McKenzie is willing to run it back for candy again. Bills grab a potential steal in the 3rd round that can stretch the defense and may you pay for doubling Stefon Diggs. Tolbert averaged over 18 yards per catch his senior season, Some say his natural fit is in the slot. OTHER OPTION: DYLAN PARHAM OG-MEMPHIS
4TH ROUND PICK 121: RACHAAD WHITE RB-6’2 210 ARIZONA ST.
Is very impressive for a player his size, runs with vision and patience, which is needed to be a running back in the NFL. Can be used in zone-run scheme or power/gap as well. Has the potential to be a three-down back, rushing for over 1,000 yards and caught 43 passes for over 450 yards. Bills love a competitive roster and with this pick makes the RB room pretty interesting. OTHER OPTIONS: BRIAN ROBINSON RB-ALABAMA.
5TH ROUND PICK 132 (VIA TRADE GIANTS) DARRIAN BEAVERS LB-6’4 255 CINCINNATI
Bills will trade pick 166 (6th RD) & pick 201 (7th RD) perhaps a conditional pick in 2023 to acquire the Giants 5th RD pick (132). Beavers is a monster. Big, Long and will chase the ball. Can cover Tight ends and Runnings Backs and will also rush the passer. 100 tackles, 12 TFL’s 5 sacks and 2 interceptions. OTHER OPTIONS: DAMONE CLARK LB-LSU
5TH ROUND PICK 153 MATT ARAIZA P- 6’2 200 SAN DIEGO ST
Matt Haack up and down season, can add some uncertainty if released the Bills can save 1.2 million. Bringing in the Ray Guy Award winner the best punter in college football would clearly mean the writings on the wall. With this pick the Bills lock in perhaps the best special teams unit in the NFL. OTHER OPTIONS: JUSTIN SHAFFER OG-GEORGIA
6TH ROUND PICK 184 ANDREW STUEBER OL- 6’7 335 MICHIGAN
Big and tough can play center, guard or tackle. Thats the kind of versatility the Bills covets upfront. who knows how the Bills will shake things up on the offensive line with Center Mitch Morse set to make over 11 million this season. He could be asked to restructure or be released. This is a solid pick in the later rounds. OTHER OPTIONS: CHARLIE KOLAR TE- IOWA ST
7TH ROUND PICK 216 ISSAC TAYLOR-STUART CB 6’2 200-USC
Once again Bills go for size and most importantly speed with this pick, ITS ran in between 4.2 -4.3 range. There are some technical issues Bills will have to develop, but he has elite speed you just can’t teach. Aggressive when using his body to come up and make tackles. OTHER OPTIONS: CAL ADOMITIS LS-PITT
Keep in mind that this is one of many mocks I will be producing. This will ultimately change after combine and free agency. But this is a good start to stir things up! PLEASE COMMENT BELOW
