After 4:30am on Friday, August 19th, Atlanta Braves outfielder and designated hitter Marcell Ozuna was arrested for driving under the influence, according to multiple reports and police records.
Ozuna was booked into the Gwinnett County jail at 4:39am on Friday morning, but was released on $1,820 bond according to The Athletic shortly after.
This is his 2nd arrest in 15 months – he was previously involved in an assault and battery case after police allegedly saw him choking his wife. Those charges were later dropped from a felony to a misdemeanor.
After that incident, Ozuna agreed to a domestic violence intervention program, anger management counseling and community service – he also was given an unpaid suspension for 20 games in 2021.
Ozuna is in the 2nd year of a four-year $65 million contract with the Braves, where he has appeared in 107 games for them so far. It is unclear what penalty he will face this time around, but the Braves have not yet commented.
